Mission: To help our customers achieve a higher quality relationship with their pets through training and proper feeding.
At The Green Dog, we’ll teach you how to get your dog on a balanced program that fits into your lifestyle.
It’s important to help you teach your dog how to live in a human household and more importantly – how to conform to your lifestyle. Whether you live in a city environment, like DC or on a farm in Maryland, your dog can be trained to adapt to your needs and the challenges you face.
Learning to communicate with your dog is the first step in building a positive relationship and getting the kind of dog you long for. With the right program, you can have a happy, healthy dog. You’ll come away with an understanding very different from when you first started. And as you train, the bond with your dog will grow stronger than ever!
At The Green Dog, we find that a combination of modern methods can get the best results in a shorter amount of time than any one training methodology. Because of this, we know a variety of methods and have access to a network of trainers with varying specialties and skills.
Owner, Lisa Long is a Certified Dog Trainer with Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers and a Canine Good Citizen Evaluator with the American Kennel Club (AKC) for the past ten years, Lisa has worked directly with dogs. She is a member of national training associations, International Association of Canine Professionals and Association of Pet Dog Trainers and is a certified canine nutritionist. Lisa is well versed in nearly all methods of dog training, from clicker training to remote collars and finds that each has its place.
She currently owns a Bull Mastiff who has earned his AKC CH title and is working on his Rally title. Connor often accompanies Lisa on trainings and is great at teaching other dogs how to behave. It’s important as a trainer to be skilled in many different training techniques and to know how to use them effectively. She is always attending seminars and continuing her education to stay on top of new methods and to better her skills.
